Understanding Changes in Medicare Reimbursement Under the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA)

Overview

ACA, MACRA, and recent policy are rapidly accelerating the shift of healthcare payment from volume- to value-based reimbursement. This session will explore the waters of payment transformation through the use of data and essential strategies and technologies associated with alternative payment models (APMs) and the merit-based incentive payment system (MIPS).

Learning Objectives

  • Identify strategies to implement in your personal practice today that will prepare you for the changes coming your way with MACRA legislative mandated changes
  • Describe the role of effective data capture starting in 2017 to determine the value of services and healthcare reimbursement under population-based payment (PBP) models being applied in healthcare effective in 2019
  • Implement changes in improved data capture that aligns with MACRA essential documentation within the primary care group practice and among organizational leaders including coding staff
